Please don't lose faith in your adoption. Perhaps in your agency, but not the adoption. As a birth assistant, I see all the time how first time parents don't really and truly get it that there is a baby in that belly. I get to their homes to assist with the labor and see that sometimes the baby's area isn't even set up or that the diapers aren't even put out, despite the fact that in a day or two, upon returning from the hospital, the first thing they will need to do is change their baby's diaper! Second time parents don't have this problem; they KNOW they are going to be adding a baby to the family.
As a first time parent going through this adoption process, I can clearly see how it might seem that this won't end with a baby, but it will, if you stick with it. After all, look at Catherine!!! I'm sorry your agency gave you false hope with the timeline so often.
My agency told me that at the time I was logged in that families travelling had waiting 24 months and that they expected a further slow down. I am also fortunate that I have unshakable faith that God is in charge of this adoption so I don't have any doubts that I will be getting a child when the timing is perfect.
I hope you can find something to make it more real to you. If not, I hope you at least are enjoying your life and the upcoming holidays.
